In a heartfelt Twitter post, Muntinlupa Mayor Ruffy Biazon announced the passing of his father, General Rodolfo Gaspar Biazon, a former Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff, and a respected member of both the Philippine Senate and House of Representatives. The announcement was made on Independence Day, a day that holds great significance for the nation.

Mayr Biazon said his father was a dedicated soldier who spent his life defending freedom and democracy. He said that the late Senator passed away at approximately 8:30 am, after battling lung cancer since July 2022.

“Despite undergoing appropriate treatment, he faced pneumonia twice this year, with the second bout severely weakening his lungs. Fought with the spirit of a true Marine, he valiantly fought his last battle, but ultimately succumbed to the Lord's will,” he said.

Expressing gratitude for the opportunity to spend their father's final moments with him intimately and peacefully, Mayor Ruffy Biazon and his family bid farewell to a warrior and a gentleman. They acknowledged the overwhelming support, love, and friendship extended to General Biazon throughout his active years and during the twilight of his life. The family plans to release details soon for those who wish to pay their last respects.

He also co-chaired the Philippine Legislators' Committee on Population & Development Foundation, Inc. (PLCPD).

General Biazon's professional history was illustrious, marked by his tenure as a Senator of the Republic of the Philippines, starting from the 9th Congress in 1992 until the ongoing 14th Congress.
