Four suspects are now in police custody following the alleged hazing-related death of 25-year-old student Aldryn Leary Bravante of the Philippine College of Criminology (PCCR) community. The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) reported the details of the case on Tuesday.

QCPD director Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan identified the suspects as Justin Artates, Kyle Michael de Castro, Lexer Angelo Manarpies, and Mark Leo Andales. They are being held in connection with the death of Bravante, a 4th year Criminology student at PCCR.

Bravante's body is marked by scars on various parts of his body and a severe contusion on the back of his thigh. An investigation has revealed that this alleged hazing incident occurred as part of the initiation rites of the Tau Gamma Phi fraternity, inside an abandoned building on Calamba St., Barangay Santo Domingo, Quezon City, around 2:00 p.m. on Monday.

Following the initiation rites, Bravante's condition deteriorated rapidly, leading to unconsciousness. Artates and de Castro, both 3rd year students of PCCR, rushed him to the Chinese General Hospital. Upon arrival, an attending physician declared him dead.

The hospital staff promptly reported the incident to the Manila Police District's Blumentritt station. In the ensuing investigation, Artates and de Castro admitted to their membership in the Tau Gamma Phi Fraternity, PCCR Chapter, and confirmed that the victim had undergone initiation rites. They also revealed that Bravante struggled to breathe and ultimately lost consciousness after the rites.

The two college students were promptly arrested for violating the Anti-Hazing Law. a serious offense that comes with severe consequences.

The case was transferred to the Quezon City Police District (QCPD). Preliminary findings indicate that Bravante's body bore evidence of hematoma on both legs and cigarette burns on his chest and hands.

At approximately 1:10 a.m. on Tuesday, Manarpies and Andales voluntarily surrendered to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group's Quezon City Field Unit. They are now undergoing further interrogation.
