Four suspects involved in the murder case of Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo have recanted their previous statements linking Representative Arnie Teves Jr. to the crime. The announcement was made by Atty. Danny Villanueva, the lawyer representing the four suspects: Mr. Judiel Rivero, Mr. Rogelio Antipolo Jr., Mr. Dahniel Lora, and Mr. Rommel Pataguan.

During a recent interview, Atty. Danny Villanueva revealed that all four of his clients had executed affidavits of recantation, retracting their earlier allegations against Rep. Arnie Teves Jr. The suspects were originally facing multiple charges, including murder, frustrated murder, and attempted murder in relation to the killing of Governor Degamo.

Previously, Mr. Judiel Rivero, also known as Osmundo Rivero, had implicated Representative Teves as one of the alleged masterminds behind the murder. However, with his recantation, Rivero has retracted his previous statements, including his admission of involvement in the alleged slaying of Governor Degamo and others in Pamplona, Negros Oriental. The earlier affidavits, which were prepared by the local police and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), had implicated Rep. Teves in the crime.

Atty. Danny Villanueva emphasized that his representation extended to all four clients and not just Mr. Rivero. He confirmed that the affidavits of recantation for all four suspects had been submitted.

The recantation by these four suspects has thrown a new twist into the ongoing investigation of Governor Degamo's murder.

The authorities and legal experts are expected to carefully evaluate the recantations and reassess the evidence against all parties involved. This development will likely have significant implications for the future course of the investigation and the judicial proceedings related to the murder case.

Both the defense and prosecution will now need to navigate these recantations as they present their respective arguments in court.
