The incumbent councilors of General Santos City have declared Amadeus Fernando Pagente or more popularly known as Pura Luka Vega as "persona non grata" due to her recent blasphemous "Ama Namin" drag performance.
The decision was made during the 40th Regular Session of the 20th Sangguniang Panlungsod, which also addressed various other pressing matters.
Among these issues, the controversial drag performance of Pura Luka Vega took center stage. The drag queen performed an "Ama Namin Remix" that stirred heated discussions in the community.
In response, the 20th Sangguniang Panlungsod passed a resolution condemning the performance and subsequently declared Pagente as "persona non grata," effectively making her an unwelcome individual in General Santos City.
While recognizing the principles of Freedom of Speech and Expression, as well as the Freedom to Travel, the city council expressed their intent to represent the feelings and sentiments of the predominantly Christian population in the city. The decision comes amidst a diverse range of opinions regarding LGBTQ+ rights, artistic expression, and cultural sensitivities in the community.
