In a showdown at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Germany etched their name in basketball history by becoming world champions for the first time. The German squad triumphed over Serbia in a final, securing an 83-77 victory to claim the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 title.

Dennis Schroder, the star of the night, led Germany with a performance, amassing 28 points. Germany, who previously clinched third place in the 2002 World Cup, broke open the game with a run during the third quarter, leaving the crowd of 12,022 fans in awe. Schroder's layup with just 21 seconds remaining sealed the victory.

While Serbia, with Aleksa Avramovic contributing 21 points, fought, they were denied their world championship since their silver medal finish in 2014 against the USA.

Adding to the celebration, Dennis Schroder received the TISSOT Most Valuable Player award, cementing his status as the tournament's player. Schroder's performance earned him a spot in the All-Star 5, alongside Bogdan Bogdanovic of Serbia, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander from Canada (who secured third place), Anthony Edwards from the USA, and Slovenia's Luka Doncic.

In the Third-Place Game, Canada secured their first-ever World Cup medal in fashion. They defeated the USA 127-118 in an overtime thriller, powered by Dillon Brooks' 39 points. The USA, with Mikal Bridges hitting a three-pointer to force overtime, left the World Cup empty-handed for the second edition.
