Basketball fans in the Philippines are in for a treat as Golden State Warriors superstar Klay Thompson is set to visit Manila on August 31 to attend the finals of ANTA's highly anticipated "Shock the Game" tournament. ANTA, the popular shoe brand, made the announcement recently, sparking excitement among basketball enthusiasts across the country.

The tournament, which commenced in late June, featured elimination rounds in various locations, including Cebu and the University of the Philippines Diliman. The intense competition will culminate with the finals being held at the prestigious SM Megamall Fashion Hall. The unique format of the Shock the Game tournament involves a full-court, 4-on-4 gameplay, where teams compete to reach 21 points within a 15-minute time limit.

A remarkable total of 128 teams from different regions of the Philippines have been vying for the championship title throughout the tournament. Last year's champions were the UP Fighting Maroons, who delivered an outstanding performance. However, ANTA Philippines General Manager JP Paglinawan emphasized that this year's Shock the Game tournament would be even grander in terms of scale, featuring a wider geographic reach, increased participation from teams and players, and an exciting grand finals match showcase.

The highlight of the event will undoubtedly be Klay Thompson's appearance. This visit marks Thompson's first-ever trip to the Philippines, and his presence is highly anticipated by fans. As one of the NBA's prominent players, Thompson is among the select group of athletes endorsing ANTA. Back in 2017, he signed a lucrative 10-year, $80 million deal with the shoe brand, solidifying their partnership.

The KT8, the latest addition to Thompson's signature shoe line, will undoubtedly attract attention during the tournament. The locally available KT8 boasts a range of vibrant colorways and can be purchased for a price of P8,995.
