The transport strike organized by the Pagkakaisa ng Samahan ng mga Tsuper at Operator Nationwide (PISTON) failed to paralyze public transportation in Metro Manila and nearby areas, based on the assessment of officials from the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

The MMDA said the protest had limited impact as it was focused only on Metro Manila and failed to gain much support in the region. The Inter-Agency Task Force monitoring team reported that only a few routes were affected by the strike with the total number of protesters not exceeding 500.

Despite the strike, the EDSA Busway carousel was operating normally with an adequate number of buses plying their route by 1:30 p.m. on Monday. The situation in Calabarzon was generally peaceful and manageable, according to authorities.

In addition, there were no "tilg-pasada" activities being monitored in the provinces of Cavite and Rizal. Only a few Public Utility Jeepney (PUJ) drivers and operators supported the first day of PISTON's transport strike call, which did not significantly impact commuters.

The Inter-Agency Task Force on TIGIL PASADA also noted that there were normal operations of public utility vehicles (PUVs).

As of 8:30am March 7, the assessment by the Inter-Agency Task Force at the MMDA Command showed that PUVs are operating normally with only isolated incidents of rallyists present in certain areas such as Heritage Baclaran, Old Terminal Alabang, Monumento, Catmon/St. Francis St., and Malabon.

The Philippine government has deployed rescue and Libreng Sakay units in response to the strike, and it has been reported that no stranded passengers have been observed in the areas where these units were deployed.

Yesterday, March 6, several areas were affected by the transport group strike. However, the routes have now returned to normal operations, despite reports of Tigil Pasada.

The Inter-Agency Task Force on TIGIL PASADA continues to monitor the situation and urges the transport groups to cooperate and follow protocols to ensure the safety and convenience of the riding public.
