Militant labor group Kilusang Mayo Uno (KMU) has accused the police of killing one of its organizers, Jude Thaddeus Fernandez on Sept. 29 in Rizal province.

In a statement, the KMU said that the PNP-CIDG claims that Fernandez fought back as he was being served a search warrant. This, they claimed “made them fire at Fernandez until he was killed and declared ‘dead on the spot’.”

Lt. Col. Marissa Bruno, public information officer of the PNP-CIDG, denied KMU’s accusation.

Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin issued a statement, saying the administration condemns any acts of violence and that the Executive will “take concrete steps to mobilize all relevant government agencies towards effectively conducting a thorough and impartial investigation into the matter.”
