In the highly anticipated sequel to the blockbuster hit "Here Comes the Bride," the zany adventures of the wacky characters continue in "Here Comes the Groom." Produced by Quantum Films, Cineko Productions, and Brightlight Productions, and directed by the talented Chris Martinez, this comedy film promises to bring audiences on a hilarious and heartwarming journey.

The story revolves around the lovable characters of the Rodriguez family - Rodrigo, Sr., his wife Salve, and their children Rodrigo, Jr. and Blesilda - as they embark on a journey to Junior's wedding. But their plans take an unexpected turn when their vehicle collides with the van of a family of gay pageant “konteseras”, led by the flamboyant Mama Wendy, along with Wanda, Winona, Whilhelmina, and Whitney, and their trainee Xilohuette.

As fate would have it, a soul-swapping phenomenon occurs during the collision, leaving the Rodriguez family and the “konteseras” trapped in each other's bodies for the next seven years. What follows is a hilarious series of events as they navigate their new bodies and try to make the best of the situation.

Enchong Dee takes on the role of Rodrigo, Jr., who finds himself in Mama Wendy's body, while Keempee De Leon portrays Mama Wendy in Rodrigo, Jr.'s body. Awra Briguela shines as Blesilda, who ends up in Xilohuette's body, and Maris Racal embodies Wanda. Kalad Karen adds her unique flair to the role of Winona, and Xilohuette hilariously portrays Whitney.

Through their misadventures and mishaps, the characters learn valuable lessons about acceptance, tolerance, and the true meaning of family. The film carries a powerful message that regardless of gender or appearance, everyone deserves respect and understanding. It emphasizes that it is not one's body, but the soul that holds their true identity.

Director Chris Martinez, known for his expertise in comedy, infuses the film with his signature brand of humor, delivering belly laughs and witty one-liners that will leave audiences in stitches. The talented cast brings their A-game, showcasing their comedic timing and chemistry on-screen, creating a rollicking comedy that is sure to entertain.

"Here Comes the Groom" is not only a laugh-out-loud comedy, but it also touches on important social issues, promoting inclusivity and acceptance. It challenges societal norms and prejudices, delivering its message with heart, humor, and humanity.
"Here Comes The Groom" also stood out, bagging four awards, including Best Supporting Actress for Kaladkaren (Jervi Li), who made history as the first-ever transgender woman to win the coveted award.

"Here Comes The Groom" was awarded Third Best Picture, and Keempee de Leon won Best Supporting Actor for his exceptional performance in the film. However, it was Kaladkaren's win as Best Supporting Actress that stole the spotlight and made headlines, as she became the first transgender woman to ever win the award in the history of MMFF.

Kaladkaren's portrayal in "Here Comes The Groom" was lauded by the jury for her remarkable acting skills and her ability to bring depth and authenticity to her character. In the film, she played the role of a supportive and understanding friend to the main character, portrayed by Paolo Ballesteros, who struggles with his sexual orientation and his impending wedding. Kaladkaren's performance touched the hearts of both the audience and the jury, earning her the well-deserved recognition.

In addition to the awards for Best Supporting Actress and Third Best Picture, "Here Comes The Groom" also received a Special Jury Prize, further cementing its success at the MMFF. The film, directed by Chris Martinez, tells a heartwarming story about love, acceptance, and self-discovery, and has resonated with audiences for its touching portrayal of LGBTQ+ characters.

"Here Comes The Groom" has not only won awards but also captured the hearts of audiences with its powerful message of love and acceptance. As the film continues to make its mark in the history of the MMFF, it serves as a reminder of the power of cinema to break barriers and create positive change in society.
