High Approval And Trust For Top Government Officials Revealed In 'Boses Ng Bayan' Survey

In a recent evaluation conducted by the RP-Mission and Development Foundation Inc. (RPMD), top government officials in the Philippines have garnered notable levels of public support and trust.
The independent and non-commissioned "Boses ng Bayan" survey, carried out from June 25 through July 5, 2023, highlighted the strong performance indicators of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., Vice President Sara Duterte, Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri, and House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. received an impressive approval score of 82%, while Vice President Sara Duterte demonstrated exceptional public backing with an 86% approval rate. Both leaders also achieved remarkable levels of public trust, with President Marcos earning the confidence of 86% of Filipinos and Vice President Duterte garnering an astonishing 90% trust score.
Similarly, Senate President Zubiri secured an outstanding 69% approval rating, while House Speaker Romualdez obtained an impressive approval rating of 70%. The trust ratings for both congressional leaders have also seen a promising uptick.
Among cabinet officials, Secretary Benhur Abalos Jr. of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) emerged as the top-ranking cabinet official with an exceptional performance rating of 88% and a trust rating of 93%. Other cabinet members have also displayed strong approval and trust ratings, further reflecting positive public sentiment towards the country's leadership.
In the realm of senatorial performance, Senators Raffy Tulfo, Mark Villar, and Bong Revilla have tied statistically as the top-performing lawmakers, each with approval ratings above 88%. Other esteemed legislators have also garnered commendable approval and trust ratings, securing their positions in this esteemed cohort.
The survey also highlighted critical issues that demand heightened attention and intervention from the current administration. Economic stability, poverty alleviation, social welfare, job creation, and anti-corruption efforts emerged as key concerns voiced by the respondents. Additionally, the RPMD conducted a comprehensive review of the job performance of Mayors and District Representatives within the National Capital Region (NCR). The survey recognized the highest-performing public officials in the region, including Quezon City's Ma. Josefina "Joy" Belmonte as the top-performing Mayor with a job approval rating of 95.7% and a trust rating of 97.2%. In the category of top-performing Representatives, Toby Tiangco of Navotas distinguished himself with an approval rating of 93.8% and a trust rating of 95.1%.
Dr. Paul Martinez of the RPMD emphasized the importance of routine performance evaluations for Mayors and District Representatives in the Philippines. These assessments foster accountability, transparency, and effective governance, supporting informed electoral decisions and cultivating public trust.
The "Boses ng Bayan" survey, encompassing both national and NCR assessments, involved 10,000 registered voters and followed a rigorous methodology to ensure representativeness and reliability.
