Hong Kong Police Announces 1 Million HK Dollar Bounty For Eight People Who Violated National Security Law

The National Security Department of the Hong Kong Police Force announced that the court has approved the issuance of arrest warrants for eight individuals who have fled overseas and are accused of contravening the Law of the People's Republic of China on Safeguarding National Security in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (the Hong Kong National Security Law). These individuals are now wanted by the Police.
The eight wanted persons, identified as Kevin Yam, Gong-yi Yuan, Fung-yee Kwok, Wing-hang Kwok, Chi-fung Hui, Siu-tat Mung, Cho-dik Lau, and Kwun-chung Law, are alleged to have continued committing offenses under the Hong Kong National Security Law that pose a serious threat to national security. The charges against them include "incitement to secession," "subversion," "incitement to subversion," and "collusion with a foreign country or with external elements to endanger national security."
The Police have sought the arrest warrants from the court in accordance with the law and have placed these individuals on the wanted list.
In light of the significance attached to these cases by the Police, a reward of $1 Million HK Dollars is being offered by the Police for each wanted person to any member of the public who can provide information on the wanted individuals and the related crimes.
A police spokesperson said, "Endangering national security is a grave offense with potentially severe consequences. According to Article 37 of the Hong Kong National Security Law, the law applies to permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (the Region), as well as incorporated or unincorporated bodies such as companies or organizations established in the Region if they commit an offense under the law outside the Region. Furthermore, according to Article 38 of the Hong Kong National Security Law, the law also applies to offenses committed against the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region from outside the Region by individuals who are not permanent residents. Therefore, the Hong Kong Police Force has the responsibility to pursue the legal liabilities of individuals alleged to have committed offenses under the Hong Kong National Security Law outside the Region, in accordance with the law."
The Police further emphasized that it is illegal for any person, through any means, including the internet, to aid, abet, provide pecuniary or other financial assistance, or property to others for committing offenses that endanger national security, contravening the Hong Kong National Security Law. The Police urged members of the public to comply with the law, emphasizing that they would strictly enforce it.
