Senator Risa Hontiveros raised concerns about the potential national security risks posed by the issuance of work visas to individuals through fake companies. The senator emphasized the need for a thorough investigation into the matter, expressing fears that criminal syndicates may have exploited this loophole to infiltrate the country.

"This is a national security risk. Hindi natin alam baka mga sindikato at kriminal na ang mga nakapasok sa bansa," warned Hontiveros. She highlighted the urgency of addressing the issue, suggesting that nefarious elements might have already entered the country under the guise of legitimate employment.

Hontiveros disclosed information that these work visas are allegedly being used by foreign nationals to work for Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs). This revelation raises questions about the potential misuse of visas and the implications for the Philippine workforce and national security.

"I do welcome the Department of Justice (DOJ) directive that orders the BI to stop granting work visas requested by fake companies. Isang mahalagang hakbang ito para matigil ang mga kababalaghan sa ahensya," stated Hontiveros, expressing approval of the Department of Justice's move to curb the issuance of visas under questionable circumstances.

Hontiveros promised a thorough examination of the situation in the upcoming hearing, pledging to scrutinize the processes involved in granting work visas to ensure the integrity of the system.
