House Committee On Appropriations Commences Deliberations On 2024 National Budget, Beginning With Scrutiny Of PAGCOR Allocation

The House Committee on Appropriations, under the leadership of AKO BICOL Party-list Representative Elizaldy Co, has embarked on a meticulous examination of the proposed P5.768-trillion 2024 national budget. The committee's inaugural focus revolves around a thorough assessment of the allocation designated for the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR).
Other officials in the House of Representatives also convened for the budget hearing. Joining Chairman Elizaldy Co were Marikina 2nd district Representative Stella Luz Quimbo and AKO BICOL party-list Representative Raul Angelo “Jil” Bongalon, both Senior Vice Chairperson and Vice Chairperson of the Committee on Appropriations, respectively. Minority Leader Marcelino Libanan also participated actively, representing the diversity of perspectives within the legislative body.
Echoing a call for collaborative engagement, Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez rallied his colleagues to contribute actively throughout the budget deliberations. He underscored the importance of attentive listening and respect for the concerns raised by the minority members, emphasizing the ultimate goal of achieving a consensus that serves the best interests of the Filipino populace. The Speaker particularly emphasized the significance of aiding the impoverished and marginalized sectors of society.
