Leaders of the House of Representatives affirmed their commitment to economic reform and clarified that there are no plans to abolish the Senate. The focus of their proposed changes to the 37-year-old Charter lies in liberalizing the country's economic provisions.

They acknowledged the urgent necessity of attracting foreign capital and direct investments to the country. Speaker Romualdez expressed his willingness to adopt the Senate-version of Resolution of Both Houses No. 6, advocating Constitutional reform through a Constituent Assembly.

Prominent House members present at the briefing included Senior Deputy Speaker Aurelio “Dong” Gonzales Jr., Majority Leader Manuel Jose “Mannix” Dalipe, Deputy Speaker David “Jay-jay” Suarez, and Committee chairs such as Jose “Joboy” Aquino II, Robert Ace Barbers, Rufus Rodriguez, and more.

Despite the suspension of people's initiative proceedings by COMELEC, Committee on Constitutional Amendments chair Rufus Rodriguez explained that it was a response to the Senate's non-action on the House-version of RBH 6, adopted by the House in March 2023. Rodriguez emphasized that the Senate had also failed to act on previous Charter reform proposals.

Majority Leader Dalipe defended the House's commitment to its duties, asserting that all LEDAC and SONA priority measures had been approved six months ahead of schedule. He urged the Senate to promptly address pending priority measures.

The House members expressed unwavering support for Speaker Romualdez and President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. Additionally, they called upon the Senate to collaborate on the approval of pending priority measures, emphasizing their dedication to legislative measures benefiting the country.
