The House of Representatives is on the verge of finalizing all priority bills laid out by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and the Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC).

According to Speaker Martin Romualdez, out of the 57 LEDAC priority bills, only four remain to be completed by the House of Representatives.

One of these pending bills is the National Defense Act, slated for approval on its third reading. Romualdez emphasized the importance of establishing a robust defense and industry program for the Philippines to avoid reliance on allied nations and foreign suppliers for essential weaponry.

“We have accomplished our mission as lawmakers by acting promptly on the legislative agenda of President Marcos, which is focused on sustaining economic growth, helping the poor and vulnerable sectors, creating jobs and income opportunities, and in general, making life better for every Filipino,” he stated.

Simultaneously, a technical working group is finalizing proposed amendments to the Electric Power Industry Reform Act, while discussions on the Budget Modernization Bill are still underway.

Another legislative proposal prioritized by the House is House Bill No. 9571, addressing the production, storage, and use of chemical weapons. This is among the 11 bills currently in deliberation in both plenary and committee sessions.

Speaker Romualdez expressed readiness for Senate collaboration, stating, “We will await Senate action on proposed laws that we have approved on third and final reading, and we will be ready to sit with senators in bicameral conferences to come up with the final versions.” The successful passage of these bills signifies a major stride in fulfilling the legislative agenda set by the country's leadership.
