Members of the House of Representatives rallied behind Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez today, dispelling allegations linking him to a controversial people's initiative aimed at amending the 37-year old Constitution. The affirmation came through the adoption of House Resolution (HR) No. 1562 during a plenary session.

The resolution not only reaffirms the House's steadfast support for Speaker Romualdez but also emphasizes the commitment of its members to remain cohesive in the face of external challenges. HR No. 1562 goes further to address concerns related to alleged Senate interference in the House's legislative and constituent functions, citing a breach of the principle of inter-parliamentary courtesy.

Senior Deputy Speaker Aurelio “Dong” Gonzales Jr. took the lead in sponsoring HR No. 1562, garnering strong support from other House members and political party leaders. The resolution aims to protect the honor and integrity of the House of Representatives amid recent controversies and to send a clear message of solidarity within the chamber.
