House Sets Legislative Priorities, Approves Resolutions At 2nd Regular Session

In the second regular session of the 19th Congress on July 24, Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez expressed gratitude to his colleagues for their dedication and called for enthusiasm and optimism in tackling remaining bills from the Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC) priority list.
With the attendance of 311 members, Speaker Romualdez outlined the House's key focus areas as follows: 1. Honoring the pledge to amplify investment prospects for domestic and foreign investors through the Maharlika Investment Fund (MIF) and other initiatives aimed at accelerating the nation’s development; 2. Strengthening of the Public-Private Partnership scheme; 3. Safeguarding farmers’ interests, ensuring equitable market conditions, and fostering sustainable farming methods; and 4. Raising the existing Strategic Agriculture and Fisheries Development Zones (SAFDZ).
During the session's opening, the House adopted several resolutions, including the convening of a Joint Session to hear the Second State of the Nation Address of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
The House also approved the formation of a 12-member joint committee responsible for informing the President about both chambers' readiness to hear his address.
Moreover, Majority Leader Manuel Jose "Mannix" Dalipe's motion to appoint members to the joint committee was also approved.
Senior Deputy Speaker Aurelio Gonzales, Rep. Salvador Pleyto, Rep. Jaime Cojuangco, Senior Deputy Majority Leader Ferdinand Alexander Marcos, Rep. Marlyn Primicias-Agabas, and Rep. Paul Ruiz Daza have been appointed as the House's representatives to the joint committee.
