The House Small Committee, acting under the authority of the House Plenary, has announced its “unanimous decision to remove or realign controversial confidential funds” to address the pressing needs of the Filipino people and ensure transparency and accountability in public fund usage.

Notably, the Office of the Vice President and the Departments of Education (DepEd), Information and Communications (DICT), Agriculture (DA), and Foreign Affairs (DFA) are set to receive 'zero’' confidential funds in the 2024 General Appropriations Bill (GAB).

Instead, the bulk of funding will be redirected towards agencies responsible for safeguarding national security, particularly in the West Philippine Sea.

Cong. Stella Quimbo, senior vice chairperson of the House Committee on Appropriations, stated, "We believe that the House of Representatives is on the right side of history. We are responding to the call of the times. The volatile situation in the West Philippine Sea calls for immediate and decisive action to protect our national sovereignty."
