In a significant development for fans and stakeholders of the long-running television program, IPOPHL (Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines) has officially confirmed the renewal of the iconic "EAT BULAGA" trademark, owned by Television and Production Exponents, Inc.

The approval, granted on June 14, 2023, extends the term of registration for another 10 years.

The renewal covers the trademarks "EAT BULAGA" and its abbreviated form "EB," registered under TM Reg. No. 42011005951, across various Nice Classes including 16, 18, 21, and 25. These classes encompass a wide range of products and services, including paper goods, leather goods, household utensils, and clothing.

The renewal process adheres to the ex-parte nature outlined in Republic Act 8293, also known as the Intellectual Property Code. According to this law, renewals are granted when the registrant can demonstrate the consistent and uninterrupted use of the mark. This confirmation underscores the continued relevance and popularity of the "EAT BULAGA" brand.

It's important to note that the renewal proceedings and pending applications at the Bureau of Trademark (BOT) remain distinct from the ongoing trademark cancellation case at the Bureau of Legal Affairs (BLA). The renewal approval does not influence the BLA's evaluation of the merits of the trademark cancellation case.
