Jo Koy Will Host Golden Globe Awards

The Golden Globes® has officially announced the selection of renowned stand-up comedian and actor Jo Koy as the host for the highly-anticipated 81st Annual Golden Globe® Awards. The three-hour live broadcast is scheduled to air on CBS and stream on Paramount+ on Sunday, January 7, 2024, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.

Jo Koy, known for his infectious energy and relatable humor, expressed his excitement, stating, "I’ve stepped onto a lot of stages around the world in my career, but this one is going to be extra special. I’m so excited to be hosting the Golden Globes this year. This is that moment where I get to make my Filipino family proud. Mahal Kita (Google it)!"

Koy, widely recognized as a leading stand-up comedian, actor, and author, is set to bring his genuine brand of comedy to the Beverly Hilton stage and homes worldwide. Known for pulling inspiration from his colorful family, Koy's comedy has reached diverse audiences and translated into sold-out arenas globally.

Executive producing showrunners Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner expressed their excitement, stating, "Jo’s genuine brand of comedy is sure to entertain our honorees in the room at the Beverly Hilton and viewers at home. We are excited to work with him to make this year’s show laugh-out-loud from beginning to end."

Apart from his stand-up success, Jo Koy has starred in films like Easter Sunday and Disney’s Haunted Mansion. He has also lent his voice to Netflix’s animated film Monkey King and is set to voice The Monkey King in the upcoming animated feature film, Tiger’s Apprentice, premiering on Paramount+ on February 2, 2024.

The 81st Annual Golden Globe Awards will also feature two newly-added awards – Best Stand-Up Comedian on Television and Cinematic and Box Office Achievement, further expanding the celebration of excellence in both film and television.

Multi-Emmy Award®-winning producing duo Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner of White Cherry Entertainment (WCE) will serve as executive-producing showrunners for the event, with Weiss also set to direct. Barry Adelman and Helen Hoehne are additional executive producers. Dick Clark Productions will plan, host, and produce the prestigious awards ceremony, which has been viewed in more than 200 countries and territories worldwide. The Golden Globes continues to be a global celebration of the best achievements in both motion picture and television.
