Baguio City and Benguet are currently facing a significant challenge as at least six forest fire incidents were recorded across the region, prompting a collaborative response from government and private sector entities.

The joint efforts aim to contain and control the fires that have already affected large areas of land.

In a report released by the Bureau of Fire Protection - Cordillera Administrative Region (BFP-CAR), fire incidents have been identified in various locations, including Sitio Binungaan, Tinongdan, Itogon, with an estimated 17 hectares of land affected. In Millsite Sitio Camp 6, Barangay Camp 4 in Tuba, 5 hectares of land have been impacted.

Bokod, another area in Benguet, has witnessed fire incidents in Sitio Banao and Sitio Bisal, Barangay Bobok, with a substantial 200 hectares of estimated affected land area. Additionally, Sitio Minac and Sitio Adonot, Barangay Ambuklao, report 60 hectares of affected land area, while Sitio Yapas, Barangay Bobok-Bisal, has seen 20 hectares affected.

The flames have also reached Baguio City, specifically in the Philippine Military Academy Area, Barangay Kias, affecting an estimated 20 hectares of land. Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) councils, BFP stations, Philippine National Police (PNP), Philippine Army, Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), National Power Corporation (NPC), and various volunteers are actively engaged in ground-level fire suppression efforts. Simultaneously, the Tactical Operations Group 1 (TOG-1), in coordination with the Office of Civil Defense - CAR (OCD-CAR), Cordillera DRRM Council, and Benguet Provincial DRMM Council, employs the Bambi bucket system for aerial fire suppression.

In another development, the 205ᵗʰ Tactical Helicopter Wing (THW) of the Philippine Air Force has deployed two Black Hawk helicopters in a humanitarian mission to provide relief to the residents of Brgy Himalandrog, Calbayog, Samar, who were recently affected by a fire incident. This collaborative effort involves the Philippine Army and different local government units. The 205th THW, together with Tactical Operations Group 8 - Tacloban, conducted a rapid damage assessment and needs analysis in Brgy. Himalandrog to determine the full extent of the fire's impact and identify further support required by the community.
