The International Testing Agency (ITA), entrusted by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) to independently oversee the anti-doping program, has reported an Adverse Analytical Finding for a prohibited substance in the sample collected from Filipino basketball player Justin Brownlee.
The substance in question is Carboxy-THC, as listed on the World Anti-Doping Agency's (WADA) Prohibited List.
The sample was obtained by the ITA during an in-competition anti-doping control operation carried out on October 7, 2023, during the Asian Games in Hangzhou.
The China Anti-Doping Agency acted as the Sample Collection Authority during this process.
Brownlee has been officially notified of the situation and has the option to request an analysis of the B-sample. This procedure is a standard part of the anti-doping process to ensure accuracy and fairness.
The matter is slated to be forwarded to the Anti-Doping Division of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS ADD) for a comprehensive review and adjudication under the OCA Anti-Doping Rules.
