Tropical Depression "KABAYAN" has weakened into a tropical depression and has made landfall over Manay, Davao Oriental. The Philippines faces multiple hazards affecting various regions, including heavy rainfall, severe winds, and coastal water risks.
Forecasted accumulated rainfall poses risks in different regions over the next 24 hours, with significant amounts expected in Surigao del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Dinagat Islands, Agusan del Sur, Davao del Norte, Davao de Oro, and Davao Oriental. Elevated or mountainous areas are particularly susceptible to flooding and landslides.
A Gale Warning is in effect for coastal waters along the seaboard of Northern Luzon, the eastern and central seaboards of Visayas, and the eastern seaboards of Central Luzon, Southern Luzon, and Mindanao. Sea travel is risky, and mariners are advised to remain in port or seek safe harbor.
KABAYAN is forecasted to track westward or west-northwestward across the Philippine archipelago. After crossing Mindanao and weakening due to landfall, the tropical depression is expected to make another landfall over central or southern Palawan. The current track and intensity forecast may change, emphasizing the need for continued monitoring.
Residents and authorities are urged to stay informed through official weather advisories and take necessary precautions to ensure safety in the wake of Tropical Depression "KABAYAN."
