The NLEX Road Warriors are grappling with a significant setback as ace guard Kevin Alas is confirmed to have suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear for the third time.

The unfortunate injury adds a layer of adversity for the Road Warriors, who will be without the services of the talented Gilas player starting from their upcoming match against the NorthPort Batang Pier on Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

This marks the third occurrence of an ACL tear for Alas, posing a substantial challenge for both the player and the team. Despite the setback, Alas maintains his unwavering faith, stating, "May plano si God" (God has a plan).

He remains resilient, reflecting on the twists of his career, including his recent participation in the Asian Games and the gold-medal run.

"Okay lang. May plano ang Diyos," Alas reiterated, emphasizing his trust in a higher plan despite the hurdles he faces.

The injury is expected to sideline Alas for an extended period. He is scheduled to undergo surgery in December once the swelling around the injured knee has subsided.

The recovery process is anticipated to span 10 to 12 months, meaning Alas will be unavailable for the remainder of the PBA Season 48 Commissioner's Cup.

The NLEX Road Warriors, currently holding a 1-2 record in the Commissioner's Cup with losses to the Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters and Terrafirma Dyip, as well as a win against the San Miguel Beermen, face a challenging journey ahead without Alas on the court.
