In a recent statement, Ogie Diaz, former manager of actress Liza Soberano, defended his relationship with his former client amidst criticisms from netizens.

Diaz addressed Soberano's past comments about her screen name, which she revealed was chosen for her by Star Cinema. He pointed out that her screen name is what helped her family to have a better life, providing them with a home, and even helping out her parents in the United States. Diaz credited Soberano's success to her screen name, which he believes contributed to her popularity among Filipinos.

Diaz also shared that he is grateful for Soberano's generosity, revealing that the actress helped pay for the hospitalization of his godchild, Miracle, back in 2017. He emphasized that despite no longer managing Soberano, he remains available to her should she ever need his help.

Responding to criticisms that he profited off of Soberano, Diaz clarified that he was not made wealthy by his association with the actress. He emphasized that he is just like anyone else who needs to work hard to make a living and provide for his family.
