STOP THE KILLINGS! This is the resounding message from various organizations and individuals as they condemn the recent ambush of Aparri Vice-Mayor Rommel G. Alameda and his companions.
On February 19, Vice-Mayor Alameda and companions were on their way to Manila to attend the Vice Mayors' League of the Philippines National Convention in Pasay City when they were ambushed in Sitio Kinacao, Baretbet, Nueva Vizcaya. The Vice Mayors League of the Philippines (VMLP)- Cagayan Chapter and the Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines (ULAP) have issued statements of indignation and condemnation over the violent deaths of the vice mayor and his companions.
Both organizations demand justice and call on the authorities to exert all efforts to put a stop to these senseless killings.
Vice-Mayor Alameda was described as a kind person who had a passion and commitment to serve his constituents. ULAP, in particular, emphasized the need for swift and immediate justice to ensure that the law is able to protect the people and show criminals that they will not be invincible.
