The Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) Industry recently concluded an extensive nationwide tour, showcasing an extraordinary display of unity and collaboration among stakeholders. The purpose of the tour was to disseminate crucial information regarding Republic Act 11592, also known as the LPG Industry Regulation Act, which establishes a robust regulatory framework for safe LPG operations.
Led by the Department of Energy (DoE), the LPG Summit was conducted in ten regions across the Philippines, encompassing cities, towns, and provinces. The regions included San Fernando La Union, Cauayan City, Isabela, San Fernando, Pampanga, Pasay City in the National Capital Region (NCR), Batangas City, Legazpi City in Albay, Iloilo City, Cebu City, Cagayan de Oro, and Davao City.
The private sector played a pivotal role in the success of the LPG Summit tour, with organizations such as the LPG Safety Foundation, LPG Marketers' Association, LPG Industry Association, Republic Gas Corporation (REGASCO), Petron Corp, Fiesta Gas, Solane LPG, Phoenix Petroleum, South Pacific Inc., Shine Gaz, Brenton International Venture Manufacturing Corporation, Liquigaz Philippines Corporation, and Pascal Resources Energy Inc. actively participating and contributing to the events.
Government agencies also lent their support to the summit, including the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Philippine National Police (PNP), and Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG). Their involvement ensured a comprehensive approach to educating participants and stakeholders on LPG-related matters and safety protocols.
The LPG Summit received extensive coverage from various media platforms, including print, radio, TV, and online channels, reaching a wide audience nationwide. This media exposure helped raise awareness among the general public about the importance of LPG safety. The expenses incurred during the organization of the regional LPG summits were covered through voluntary contributions from private sector participants in the LPG industry. This demonstrates the industry's commitment to working together for the betterment of the sector and the welfare of the Filipino people.
The successful conclusion of the nationwide LPG Summit underscores the collective dedication and commitment of both the government and the private sector in promoting LPG safety and ensuring the responsible growth of the industry. By fostering unity and collaboration, the LPG industry is poised to enhance safety standards and provide a reliable and clean energy source for the nation.
