Magnitude 6.6 Earthquake Strikes Sarangani Offshore: No Tsunami Threat

A magnitude 6.6 earthquake struck offshore of the Municipality of Sarangani, Davao Occidental.

The temblor occurred on September 26, 2023, at 03:18 AM local time, with its epicenter located at a depth of 122 kilometers beneath the Earth's surface.

The earthquake was of tectonic origin. Despite the substantial magnitude, initial reports suggest that there is no significant damage expected from this event.
Seismologists have indicated that aftershocks are expected in the region following the main quake. Residents are advised to remain cautious and stay informed about any updates regarding potential aftershocks.
