Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim has commended President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for his "great strides" in sustaining peace in Mindanao during their bilateral meeting in Malacañang on Wednesday.

Anwar expressed his gratitude to the Filipino leader for his efforts in resolving the century-long contentious issue that has affected the region, particularly Malaysia. He also pledged Malaysia's assistance to the Bangsamoro people in their pursuit of peace through various capacity-building programs.
President Marcos, for his part, emphasized the importance of sustaining peace and security in the region, and both leaders agreed to continue their cooperation on political and security matters, including joint initiatives to combat transnational crime and terrorism.

They also discussed the deep historic roots between the Philippines and Malaysia and the need to deepen people-to-people ties through continued cultural exchanges and tourism.
Anwar also committed to enhancing cooperation with the Brunei Darussalam–Indonesia–Malaysia–Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area and the hosting of the Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines Facilitation Center.

The Malaysian leader also shared President Marcos' concerns about the tension in the West Philippine Sea and called for a multilateral approach to the issue at the ASEAN level to achieve an amicable resolution.
