Mandal Secures Philippines' First Silver Medal At 2023 Asian Games

Arnel Mandal clinched the nation's first silver medal at the 19th Asian Games. Mandal faced off against China’s Jiang Haidong in the wushu men’s sanda 56kg final on Thursday.
Mandal was bested by Haidong with a point difference (WPD) at the Xiaoshan Guali Sports Centre.
Mandal previously triumphed over Avazbek Amanbekov of Kyrgyzstan with a 2-0 score in the semifinals.
In another triumph for Philippine Wushu, Clemente Tabugara Jr. emerged victorious in the Men's Wushu 65kg Sanda category, claiming a well-deserved bronze medal.
The Philippines’ medal count is currently one silver and four bronzes.
