Manila Central Post Office Hit By Massive Fire

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan and Vice Mayor Yul Servo-Nieto inspected the aftermath of a devastating fire that broke out at the Manila Central Post Office on Monday, May 22. The fire, which quickly escalated to a general alarm status, was finally declared under control at 7:22 AM.

Fire Superintendent Christine Doctor-Cula of the Manila Fire Department provided updates on the situation, stating that the fire had been successfully contained. The firefighting teams worked tirelessly to prevent the flames from spreading further and managed to bring the situation under control, averting further damage to the historic building.

Upon hearing news of the fire, Mayor Lacuna-Pangan and Vice Mayor Servo-Nieto wasted no time in visiting the scene to assess the extent of the damage and provide support to the affected parties. The Manila Central Post Office holds significant historical and cultural value, and its preservation is of utmost importance to the City of Manila.

In light of the incident, the City of Manila, under the leadership of Mayor Lacuna-Pangan, has initiated discussions with the Philippine Post Office and its Postmaster General, Luis Carlos. The purpose of these talks is to determine how the city can extend assistance to the national heritage site in its recovery efforts.
