The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) is forging ahead with its ambitious plans to revamp the electrical infrastructure of NAIA Terminal 3.

Today, a pivotal phase of this transformative endeavor unfolds as the MIAA executes a strategic power interruption to facilitate the replacement of faulty medium voltage power cables and vacuum circuit breakers in two vital substations within the terminal.

To carry out this crucial task, MIAA has scheduled a 4-hour power interruption that will temporarily affect specific sections of the terminal. The interruption is necessitated by the need to upgrade the electrical systems, and though the MIAA acknowledges the potential inconvenience, it remains resolute in its mission to elevate the terminal's electrical capabilities.

MIAA Officer-in-Charge Bryan Co expressed his regrets for the scheduled disruption, recognizing that it is a necessary step to fulfill the organization's commitment to enhancing and modernizing NAIA Terminal 3's electrical framework. Co reassured the public that the MIAA's comprehensive rehabilitation and upgrade efforts are aimed at ensuring long-term benefits and minimizing inconveniences in the future.

During the scheduled shutdown, MIAA's generator sets will seamlessly take over to provide temporary power to specific areas, including the Air Asia office, Boarding Gates 101-112, as well as the moving walkways and elevators on Levels 2 and 3 of the international wing. Additionally, the offices and commercial establishments located in the south concourse of the Terminal will continue to operate efficiently.

The planned power interruption is set to occur from 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM today. Furthermore, in the event that the energization activities cannot be completed within the designated 4-hour timeframe, the interruption may extend to the following day, August 9. MIAA is confident that these temporary disruptions will not impede flight operations and that passengers' journeys will proceed smoothly.

Bryan Co reiterated the MIAA's commitment to delivering on its promises by promptly concluding the electrical systems' overhaul and modernization project. As this endeavor unfolds, the MIAA remains dedicated to maintaining transparency and ensuring that passengers and stakeholders are kept well-informed about the progress and benefits of these critical improvements.
