Meta, in collaboration with EssilorLuxottica, unveiled the next-generation Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses collection. Simultaneously, Meta introduced a diverse lineup of AI personalities, promising a new dimension of interaction and engagement for its users.
At its Meta Connect conference, the company showcased the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses 2.0. These revamped smart glasses build upon the success of their predecessors..
One of the standout features is the revamped audio experience, with custom-designed speakers delivering extended bass, improved volume, and directional audio that minimizes sound leakage, ensuring pristine calls, music, and podcasts even in noisy environments.
The glasses boast a five-microphone array for immersive audio recording, capturing sound from all directions during video recording.
The ultra-wide 12 MP camera now delivers higher-quality photos and 1080p videos up to 60 seconds in length. Voice commands enable direct photo sharing.
The iconic Wayfarer style is retained, with a new Headliner design offering a retro twist, available in Matte Black and Shiny Black. The glasses are now compatible with prescription lenses and boast water resistance (IPX4).
Users can now livestream directly to Facebook or Instagram, sharing real-time moments with friends and followers.
Pre-orders for the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses are now open on meta.com and ray-ban.com, with availability in both online and retail stores commencing on October 17, 2023.
Meta also introduced a cast of 28 AI personalities, each with unique interests and personalities. These AI personalities can be interacted with directly through messaging platforms and are also showcased on social profiles on Facebook and Instagram.
While some of these profiles feature familiar faces representing the characters, Meta clarified that these individuals are portraying the AI personalities, not themselves.
