A missing Cessna 206 plane, which had been lost for over a month, has been discovered by a composite team of rescuers in the remote barangay of Ditarum, Divilacan Isabela. The plane, with six passengers onboard, had crashed in a rugged and mountainous area, and the wreckage was scattered across trees and the ground.
The incident management team, led by Atty Constante Foronda Jr, announced in a press briefing that there were no survivors.
The search and rescue operation involved a combined effort of government troops, including the Philippine Coast Guard, Rescue Maconacon, K9 Mandog Sniffer, and Dumagat volunteers. The team had to navigate through challenging terrain and high waters of the river to reach the crash site. It was the third time the team had attempted to reach the area, and they were successful in their mission due to their persistence and determination.
The bodies of the passengers, which include Captain Eleazar Mark Joven, Tommy Manday, Val Kamatoy, Mark Eiron Seguerra, Xam Seguerra, and Josefa Perla España, are expected to be retrieved on Sunday, March 12, 2023.
The remains will be brought to Divilacan, Isabela, and later transported to the Tactical Operations Group 2 of the Philippine Air Force in Cauayan City. The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) is also set to conduct an investigation into the cause of the crash.
The families of the passengers and pilot have been informed of the tragic news, and they are expected to arrive in Isabela in the coming days.
