The Single Ticketing System (STS) aims to streamline the ticketing system for various modes of transportation, including buses, jeepneys, and taxis, in the metro.
With the STS, commuters will only need one ticket to ride different modes of public transportation, instead of buying separate tickets for each ride.
According to the LTO, the STS will also help in the contact tracing efforts of the government in case a passenger tests positive for COVID-19. The system will provide a record of the passenger's travel history, including the time, date, and mode of transportation they used.
The MMDA and LTO have also assured the public that the STS will not increase the fares of public transportation. Commuters will still pay the same amount as they would with separate tickets.
The STS is part of the government's efforts to improve public transportation in the metro and promote a more efficient and convenient system for commuters. The MMDA and LTO will continue to monitor the pilot run of the STS and make necessary adjustments to ensure its smooth implementation.
