In response to public demand and a flood of requests on social media, the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) has officially announced the extension of the theatrical run for its 10 movie entries. The exhibition period was initially set to conclude today.
MMDA Acting Chairman and MMFF Overall Concurrent Chairman, Atty. Don Artes, stated, "We at the MMFF would like to express our deepest gratitude to all who have supported us and watched the movie entries, particularly those who requested for the MMFF movies to extend beyond its original run."
With a week granted for moviegoers to catch the festival entries, the MMFF will be honoring complimentary passes until January 14. Artes also shared that the 49th MMFF has already surpassed the earnings of its 2022 counterpart, with a staggering one billion in revenue to date.
He stated, "Truly, MMFF 2023 is a certified box office hit. This is a good sign as we gear up for the Manila International Film Festival (MIFF)." The 10 movies featured in the MMFF 2023 lineup include "A Family of 2 (A Mother and Son Story)," "(K)Ampon," "Penduko," "Rewind," "Becky and Badette," "Broken Heart’s Trip," "Firefly," "GomBurZa," "Mallari," and "When I Met You in Tokyo."
The 10 official entries are set to be screened at the inaugural MIFF scheduled from January 29 to February 2, 2024, in Los Angeles, California.
