Manila 6th District Representative Bienvenido Abante, who also chairs the House committee on human rights, along with 1-Rider Representative Ramon Rodrigo Gutierrez, jointly filed House Resolution No. 1477 on Monday, November 20.

The resolution calls for the full cooperation of Philippine government departments and agencies with the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) concerning its investigation into alleged crimes committed within the jurisdiction of the ICC, particularly the crime against humanity of murder in the context of the so-called war on drugs campaign.

Abante, a staunch advocate for human rights, emphasized the resolution's significance in addressing concerns related to the war on drugs campaign and ensuring a thorough and impartial investigation.

The resolution explicitly urges relevant Philippine government bodies to work collaboratively with the ICC's Office of the Prosecutor, emphasizing the need for transparency and adherence to international standards.

The investigation, focusing on crimes against humanity such as murder, aims to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the alleged offenses committed during the war on drugs campaign.

Gutierrez, as a co-author of the resolution, stressed the importance of upholding the country's commitment to international legal processes. He highlighted the resolution's role in signaling the Philippines' dedication to addressing human rights concerns through cooperation with international bodies.
