In response to a bomb threat received via email early this morning on September 8, 2023, the Manila Metro Rail Transit System Line 3 (MRT-3) has taken prompt action to ensure the safety and security of its passengers. Transportation Secretary Jaime J. Bautista activated an Inter-Agency Task Force, comprising the Department of Transportation (DOTr) Office for Transportation Security (OTS), Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center, Philippine National Police (PNP), and Railway Security.

The task force has been immediately assigned to enhance security deployment across the entire transportation sector. This move is part of the government's commitment to safeguarding the well-being of commuters and maintaining the integrity of the public transportation system.

In light of these developments, authorities are urging netizens and the public at large to exercise caution and refrain from circulating unverified information, which may cause unnecessary panic. The Inter-Agency Task Force emphasizes that it is diligently working to ensure the safety of all commuters.

DOTr Assistant Secretary for Railways and MRT-3 Officer-in-Charge, Jorjette B. Aquino, personally inspected the MRT-3 line to ascertain its security status following the threat. No suspicious activities have been reported at any of the 13 MRT-3 stations, and operations continue without interruption.

The Inter-Agency Task Force, in cooperation with the Office of Transportation Security (OTS) and the Quezon City Police District, is maintaining heightened security measures across the entire MRT-3 network. Continuous assessment of the threat's credibility is ongoing to inform future actions and precautions.

Passengers and the public are advised to remain vigilant, cooperate with authorities, and trust in the government's commitment to ensuring their safety during public transport journeys.
