MTRCB Issues Warning Against Exhibition Of Unclassified And Profanity-Laden Trailer: 'Third World Romance'
Screengrab from Black Sheep
The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) has taken swift action against the unauthorized exhibition of an unclassified and unrated version of the trailer for the film "Third World Romance." The uncensored trailer includes a profanity-laden expletive that has raised concerns among authorities and the public alike.
Diorella Maria Sotto-Antonio, the Chairperson of MTRCB, expressed her dismay over the incident, noting that the unreviewed version of the trailer has not received the necessary permit for public exhibition. The offending trailer features an expletive phrase that violates MTRCB's guidelines for appropriate content.
Cinema operators are reminded of the regulations outlined in Section 1, Article III, of Memorandum Circular No. 04-2014. This section emphasizes that only trailers that have been duly approved and passed by the Board are deemed suitable for public viewing. Any alterations or revisions to the approved trailer require a new application for review.
MTRCB has issued a stern warning to all cinema operators, urging them to refrain from exhibiting the unauthorized version of the trailer. Violation of these guidelines could result in penalties and legal action.
In a further step, a Notice to Appear and Explain will be served to the distributor/producer of the contentious trailer. This move underlines MTRCB's commitment to upholding industry standards and ensuring that audiences are provided with content that meets appropriate criteria.
