Migrant Workers Office Tel Aviv (MWO-Tel Aviv) Labor Attaché Rodolfo Gapasan, accompanied by his team, recently visited overseas Filipino worker (OFW) Gelienor "Jimmy" Pacheco at the Shamir Medical Center.
Pacheco, a caregiver in Israel for the past five years, was one of the first 24 hostages released by the Palestinian militant group Hamas on [date]. He was among the over two-hundred captives taken during Hamas's attacks in southern Israel on October 7.
Tragically, Pacheco's elderly ward lost their life during the hostage-taking incident at Kibbutz Nir Oz. The Philippine Ambassador to Israel, Pedro Laylo, Jr., also extended his visit to Pacheco, demonstrating solidarity and support during this challenging time.
The MWO-Tel Aviv team, led by Labatt Rodolfo Gapasan, continues to monitor and assist Pacheco's recovery as he receives medical care at the Shamir Medical Center. The incident highlights the challenges faced by overseas Filipino workers in conflict zones and underscores the importance of diplomatic efforts to ensure their well-being.
