President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. announced on Sunday that the national government will intervene to help address the power outages in Negros and Panay caused by problems in the distribution system.

Despite Negros having a surplus of power supply, power outages still occur due to issues with high-tension wires.

Last week, the islands of Guimaras, Panay, and Negros experienced multiple power outages. The President stated that if the current efforts by private entities to solve the issue fall short, the government will step in and provide assistance.

Furthermore, President Marcos Jr. emphasized the government's effort to manage both water and power consumption, stating that the two are closely related. The government aims to control consumption to mitigate the effects of the current weather conditions that contribute to the power crisis.

The Marcos administration had previously acted swiftly to address the power crisis in Occidental Mindoro. At least three power stations were deployed to provide 24-hour electricity power service in the province.

The National Electrification Administration (NEA) reported on April 28 that NEA Chief Antonio Mariano Almeda met with Luis Manuel Banzon, the owner of the Occidental Mindoro Consolidated Power Corporation (OMCPC), to discuss possible measures to solve the power crisis. During the meeting, they agreed to operate three power stations of OMCPC to address the current power supply concerns of the province.
