The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has determined that the bone discovered within the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) septic tank was, in fact, a "chicken leg" and not a human bone.
Dr. Annalyne Dadiz from the NBI Medico Legal Division revealed during a Senate hearing that the forensic identification conducted indicated that the remains were not human bones.
Dr. Dadiz said, "Hindi po siya buto ng tao" (It is not a human bone). She further explained, "In all likelihood, it is consistent with [a] chicken leg bone."
This revelation comes after a chopped body was uncovered inside the NBP septic tank in July.
Initially, the Department of Justice had suggested that the remains might belong to Michael Cataroja, an individual deprived of liberty who had been missing for 10 days. However, with the recent findings, it appears that the bone was indeed a chicken leg, casting doubt on the earlier assumptions. This discovery sheds new light on the mysterious case. The information was reported with contributions from Daniel Manalastas.
