Negros Oriental Governor Passes Away

Negros Oriental, Philippines - The province of Negros Oriental lost another Chief Executive in a span of a few months with the death of Governor Carlo Jorge Joan “Guido” L. Reyes.

Governor Reyes had been battling a lingering illness, according to Provincial Administrator Atty Karen Lisette Molas. It was Reyes who replaced Roel Degamo following a brutal attack by armed men and is now one of the most high profile criminal cases in the country today.

Vice Governor Manuel "Chaco" Sagarbarria will assume the role of Governor for the Province of Negros Oriental. In a solemn ceremony held at the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Session Hall, Vice Governor Sagarbarria took his oath before RTC Executive Judge Gerardo Paguio. The event was attended by DILG Negros Oriental Provincial Director Farah Diba Gentuya. .

This transition of leadership aims to ensure the uninterrupted delivery of essential services by the provincial government during this period of mourning.

Additionally, the 1st District Board Member, Jake Reyes, will succeed Governor Sagarbarria as Vice Governor. This succession ensures a smooth transition of leadership within the provincial government, allowing for the effective continuation of governance and representation for the people of Negros Oriental.
