Streaming giant Hulu has officially confirmed the highly anticipated second season of the hit series "Nine Perfect Strangers."
Building on the success of the first season, Nicole Kidman will return both as an executive producer and in the lead role. The new season will introduce a fresh ensemble cast, featuring acclaimed actors Liv Ullmann, Murray Bartlett, Dolly de Leon, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, and Turkish actor Aras Aydin, according to exclusive sources from Deadline. The remaining roles are currently being cast.
"Nine Perfect Strangers," based on the book by best-selling author Liane Moriarty, is a collaboration between prolific writer David E. Kelley, Bruna Papandrea's Made Up Stories, Kidman's Blossom Films, and Fifth Season. The first season captivated audiences worldwide and received widespread acclaim.
In its debut in September 2021, "Nine Perfect Strangers" became Hulu's most-watched original ever, surpassing records for drama, comedy, limited series, and unscripted programming on its premiere day. The show continued to draw viewership even five days after its release, solidifying its position as a must-watch series on the streaming platform.
Season 2 of "Nine Perfect Strangers" will adhere to the successful formula of its predecessor, transporting viewers to a stunning new location—the picturesque Swiss Alps. Here, nine individuals from bustling urban centers will embark on a transformative journey toward a better way of life during their ten-day stay at a luxurious wellness resort. At the helm of their rejuvenation is the resort's enigmatic director, Masha, played by the incomparable Nicole Kidman. However, these seemingly "perfect" strangers are oblivious to the unexpected twists and challenges that await them.
The first season of "Nine Perfect Strangers" was co-written by David E. Kelley, John Henry Butterworth, and Samantha Strauss. It was co-showrun by Kelley and Butterworth and boasted an impressive ensemble cast that included Melissa McCarthy, Michael Shannon, Luke Evans, Bobby Cannavale, Regina Hall, Samara Weaving, Melvin Gregg, Asher Keddie, Grace Van Patten, Tiffany Boone, and Manny Jacinto.
