The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has reported that as of August 12, 2023, there is no information indicating that any Filipino nationals have been affected by the ongoing wildfires in the counties of Hawaii. The Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu (Honolulu PCG) has been actively monitoring the situation and maintaining close communication with local authorities.

The wildfires, which have been raging in the Hawaii region, particularly in the counties of Hawaii (Big Island) and Maui, have prompted concerns for the safety of residents, including foreign nationals. The Honolulu PCG has taken proactive steps to address any potential impact on Filipino nationals in the area.

In a public advisory released on social media, the Honolulu PCG urged all Filipino nationals residing in or visiting the affected areas to remain vigilant, stay informed about the situation through reliable news sources, and adhere to safety instructions issued by local authorities. The Consulate General also emphasized that should any assistance be required, they are readily available to provide support and guidance.

The DFA remains committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all Filipino nationals overseas. The agency continues to monitor developments closely and is prepared to provide assistance as needed. Filipino nationals in Hawaii are encouraged to keep abreast of updates from the Honolulu PCG and local authorities to ensure their safety during this challenging period.
