On April 29, 2023, at 12:00 AM local time, an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.2 struck Occidental Mindoro, Philippines, according to the Earthquake Information No.2 report. The earthquake's epicenter was located 19 km south and 58 degrees east of Looc, Occidental Mindoro, with a depth of 74 km.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported that the earthquake was felt in various parts of the country, with different intensities recorded in several areas. Sablayan and Rizal in Occidental Mindoro reported an intensity level of V, while San Jose and Paluan in the same province had an intensity level of IV. Meanwhile, the City of Calapan, San Teodoro, and Puerto Galera in Oriental Mindoro had an intensity level of IV. Other areas that reported different intensity levels were Batangas, Bulacan, Cavite, Manila, and Rizal. Some of these areas include Lubang and Abra De Ilog in Occidental Mindoro, Alfonso in Cavite, Quezon City, Pasig City, Marikina City, Makati City, Valenzuela City, Bacoor City in Cavite, and General Trias in Cavite.
Instrumental intensities were also recorded, with Puerto Galera and Calapan City in Oriental Mindoro reporting an intensity level of IV. Lemery, Calatagan in Batangas, San Ildefonso in Bulacan, Tagaytay City, Magallanes in Cavite, and Las Piñas City reported an intensity level of III. Other areas that reported varying intensities include Bataan, Guiguinto, Calumpit, and Pulilan in Bulacan, and Ternate in Cavite.
