The Philippine Army’s 302nd Infantry - Achiever Brigade added that the recovery of the firearms is a significant development in the investigation of the assault in Pamplona town. They believe that the firearms recovered may have been used in the attack, and the recovery of these items could lead to the identification and arrest of the perpetrators.

The Army also denied that the suspects who were arrested on Saturday were active personnel of the military. “The suspects arrested in connection with the attack were former soldiers who had been dishonorably discharged from the military service several years ago due to their failure to meet the standards of discipline required among military personnel,” it said.

The Army emphasized that it does not condone the unauthorized use of uniforms, firearms or insignias by any group or individual and strongly condemned the actions of the perpetrators.
