P180M Worth of Drugs Discovered in Abandoned Vehicle

Parañaque City, Philippines - In a recent drug bust, authorities in Parañaque City discovered ₱180 million worth of illegal drugs inside an abandoned vehicle on the corner of Quirino Avenue and M Delos Santos Street in Barangay Tambo.

The Southern Police District’s Facebook page said that Barangay Tanod Mark Joseph Espinosa, noticed a red Toyota Innova with plate number CDI 9724 parked on the side of the road at around 5:30 PM on February 8, 2023. After calling for police assistance, responding authorities conducted an initial inspection and found a brown backpack, a box, and a sack inside the vehicle.

Upon further investigation, police officers discovered 27 vacuum-sealed packs of a white crystalline substance suspected to be methamphetamine, commonly known as shabu, with an estimated value of ₱183,600,000.00. In addition to the drugs, other items found inside the vehicle included a Nissan key, official receipts, identification cards, and a leather backpack.

The identity of the person who exited the vehicle and the motive behind leaving the drugs inside the vehicle are still being investigated. The recovered drugs have been turned over to the SPD Forensic Unit for further analysis.

The Parañaque City Police Department continues to investigate the case and is asking for any information that may lead to the identification of the person involved in the drug trafficking.
