P3 Billion Approved for Repair And Rehab Of School Buildings

To enhance the quality of education across the Philippines, Secretary Mina F. Pangandaman of the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has given the green light for the release of a Special Allotment Release Order (SARO) totaling P3.049 billion. This funding is earmarked for the Repair and Rehabilitation of Elementary and Secondary School Buildings.
Pangandaman emphasized the government's commitment to improving the educational landscape, stating, "It has always been our goal to improve the quality of education that we can provide to every Filipino and empower them with the necessary tools to improve his or her quality of life. This coming 2024, we will continue investing in education."
Out of the authorized appropriations of P4.911 billion, an initial release of P1.861 billion has been allocated. This amount will be utilized for the rehabilitation, renovation, repair, and improvement of kindergarten, elementary, and secondary school buildings in accordance with the Repair All Policy.
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. expressed his dedication to advancing the country's education infrastructure, aiming to elevate the Philippine education system to international standards. "Mahigpit na tagubilin po ng ating mahal na Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. na bigyan ng disente at komportableng pasilidad ang mga estudyante upang maayos silang makapag-aral," Secretary Pangandaman added.
The SARO, requested by the Department of Education, is slated for release to the Department of Public Works and Highways under the provisions of the 2023 General Appropriations Act.
