The Philippine Air Force's Sokol helicopter successfully located the missing Piper Plane RPC 1234 at 8:05 AM today, amidst the challenging terrain of the Isabela Mountains. The dedicated search and rescue efforts have been underway since the aircraft's disappearance.

Despite adverse weather conditions, including strong winds and thickening fog, the Sokol helicopter managed to pinpoint the exact location of the missing plane near Brgy Casala, San Mariano, Isabela.

Due to the challenging environment, the Sokol was unable to land or approach. However, the aircrew promptly relayed precise coordinates to ground forces, enabling them to initiate a targeted search on foot towards the aircraft's location.

Tactical Operations Group 2, the Philippine Air Force unit overseeing air operations in the region, reported that a civilian R44 aircraft from Lion Air also assisted in the search efforts. The collaborative approach involves a ground search party comprised of personnel from the Philippine Army, Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, and MDRRO units from Palanan, San Mariano, and Divilacan. Local Dumagat communities are serving as invaluable guides in the challenging terrain.

As the search intensifies, the PAF emphasizes its commitment to deploying parajumpers and additional rescue helicopters from the 505th Search and Rescue Group as soon as weather conditions permit.
